Food Adventures (4)

Here's another one of my food posts, where I basically talk about interesting cafes I stumble upon that you might want to end up unwinding at one day.

I had a quick lunch with my mom at The Morning After Cafe in Ativo Plaza the other day. I'd give the food a 7/10 and ambiance 9/10. The soup could have used more salt and pasta less water. Overall, it was a nice place to chill at and I'd head back there to give the other dishes on the menu a try.

One of my favourites! The crepes & waffles from La Creperie de Caroline in Bangsar. Located right outside Bangsar Village, Jalan Telawi (same row as Inside Scoop). I think it's safe to say that I enjoyed this more than the one I had in UK. Definitely recommending this place if you have a sweet tooth like me.

Butter + Beans at Seventeen is located at Happy Mansion where Food Foundry is. They have limited pastries but really good ones. They don't bake new batches once they run out so it's best if you head there early like I did for breakfast. The cinnamon roll was my favourite. If you want a quiet place with delicious pastries to chill at, here's where you ought to visit.

Went to Jojo Italian Restaurant in Tropicana Golf & Country Club for lunch with the boyfie a while ago. Slightly pricey but very worth it. I heard the chef is Italian himself so I guess that takes the food to a whole new level of authenticity.

The pies at A Pie Thing are definitely one of a kind. They have a whole variety of pies from sweet to savoury to choose from. I love the Apple Crumble in particular and I can't wait to head back for more! Sheng Wei had one of the savoury one which was really good too. The fillings & gravy just oozed out as he took the pie apart to devour. That just shows how much effort someone put into making that pie. *Zoey's theory*

Went to Acme Bar & Coffee, Troika for Alisa's surprise birthday lunch/tea. On the very pricey side for average food. Nothing I found interesting but nevertheless, brownie points for having a very nice ambiance.

Goodsaltz located in The Curve has desserts that are to die for! MUST GO. The interior of the cafe was designed by the exact same people who designed Acme Bar & Coffee but the menu is totally different. I personally think Goodsaltz has really good dessert, but their mains need some touching up.

In one of my previous blog posts, I wrote about having lunch with Sheng Wei at Boat Noodles, Empire Damansara. Recently, I found Nine Bowls in Publika with the exact same concept but the soup tastier than the one from Boat Noodles. I'd recommend this to all the non-muslims as it's non-halal.

Franco, previously known as Miam Miam in One Utama has amazing desserts! There's always a long queue outside and it's always packed with customers. Their French x Japanese cuisine definitely got me hooked. It's a must try! I love their soft serve & creme brûlée! MUCH YUMS.

[HLG ATELIER] Insights & BTS

As you all know (or may not know...), I have my very own online store. It started out on Instagram, selling only pre-loved clothing and it went by the name Holographic. I managed to make some extra cash out of just selling pre-loved clothing and I thought...why not? Spending hours on the internet was a trait of mine so sourcing for products online should be quite a breeze. I managed to find suppliers and wholesale sites that were willing to supply and let me pre-order their items for my little store on Instagram. Sales were increasing monthly and I had loyal customers that made my day.

A year later I decided to register my little business as a legitimate company and moved it to a site. HLG stands for Holographic and Atelier is studio in french, so basically it's Holographic's studio. Studio is basically a platform where artists produce interesting works of art and in my interpretation, studio is a place I basically upload whatever I find interesting for people to browse and if they're interested, they'd be able to purchase it. It offers a wide range of fashionable apparels to tech accessories and more to come.

Next step to complete the site before its ready to launch was to have a proper catalogue for apparels and also a lookbook for people to refer to. I got friends who were aspiring photographers and models to help shoot and I can't thank them enough because the outcomes were exactly what I had imagined it to be. It was a ton of time & money invested in this project of mine, a lot of trials and errors too but I'm hoping it will get me somewhere in the near future. Its an ongoing learning process but its also a challenge as its mine to make it a success.

I have to thank my parents for encouraging me in my little venture especially mum for driving me around for all my photoshoots, posting my goods out and brainstorming with me on our marketing plan, sourcing for products and also for helping me with the accounts cos I suck at maths...
Behind the scenes...

This is only the beginning...more to come so stay tuned for updates!

Mr. Bean Body Care | Get Beaned

Mr. Bean Body Care specialises in 100% organic coffee scrubs that are made from premium ingredients including organic fair trade coffee beans, Himalayan pink rock salt, Demerara sugar, organic cold pressed coconut & vitamin E. It's sold exclusively on their official site (http://mrbeanbodycare.com) for roughly $18 (USD). Mr. Bean Body Care offers worldwide shipping so no worries on that. Mr. Bean offers 3 different scents/options for their coffee scrub : Coconut, Mandarin, Man Scrub.

I've been meaning to try coffee scrub ever since I found out about it. Mr Bean was kind enough to send me one of their best sellers - the Mandarin Coffee Scrub to test & review.

The idea of a coffee scrub just sounded so fascinating to me. I love trying new things, especially interesting new products. Coffee scrubs contain a lot of natural ingredients that are good for your skin. It helps exfoliate, get rid of stretch marks, acne, whiteheads, blackheads, cellulite, eczema, age spots, varicose veins and psoriasis...which pretty much makes up for all your insecurities. Mr. Bean takes away all that shitty stuff you have all over your body and nourishes it with natural goodies. I love how the Mandarin Coffee Scrub had a crushed Oreo texture to it and smelled like orange chocolate, it made my experience an even greater one.

Take note : Mr. Bean wasn't kidding when he mentioned he wanted to get down & dirty as hell with you. He's gonna make a huge mess so you have to be prepared! You can't expect wonders to happen if you're not planning to go all the way with him. Wet yourself, grab a handful, apply him on you with gentle circular motions, leave him to soak into your delicate skin for 5 minutes tops, rinse, cleanse with your favourite body wash and take your final rinse for the best results.

Thank you Mr. Bean Body Care
it's "bean" a pleasure.
